California Jugging League

California Jugging League (CJL)
A league for dedicated juggers, run in a formalized manner.

I have had opportunity to speak with a few of you Amtagrders out there about this idea. So far the response has been good, and I wanted to throw a post up about it to get it out to the wider population of California Amtgard. Bascially, there will formalized league jugging games held at various qualified parks. Teams will be approved based on specific, but simple criteria. I will post the specifics soon, once they get hammered on a little more.

In addition, there will be dedicated Reeves for the events, who will not be allowed to participate on any team. Team size will range from 6 (minimum) to 9 (maximum) members. No one person may be on more than one team, in an effort to avoid conflict at game time. Rules will comply with, or exceed standard jugging rules based on the current IM standard.

Teams are not required to represent a land, company, etc., but naturally, may do so if that is what you want to do.

Ideally, the first set of league games will be held at Darkshore, this year.

More details to come, I know that there are at least 2, if not 3 teams in the building phase right now. If enough teams get together in time, then we can get this going. The league will run for 6 months, following our current reign schedule.

Any questions, please post here or you can PM me if you prefer.

Oddly enough, I almost expected you to volunteer, given that you generally do not play jugging. :)

Much appreciated as well. I will put you on the list of Reeves...also, do you think a moderate amount of travel will keep you from being one of the Reeves? It would be best to have consistant Reeves is basically what I am thinking?

How viable will southern land based teams be as far as being able to be on location for league games? Are most the games slated to be played at WM events?

Well that will depend somewhat on the makeup of the teams. Wherever the majority of the teams are located is where I would like to place the majority of the games.

I would like each team to have a 'local' game day if possible. Also, its hard to determine, because a team could have members from the very north and south of California in theory.

If you field a team, or better yet, more than one team, then I think it is not unreasonable to have at least one of the league days down your way :)

Realistically, but by no means set in stone, there will be about 1 league game day a month. This is the ideal, but may not be functional at all times.

Once I have teams approved into the league, then we can determine the center of the teams, and try to make most of the game days there.

We should see game days at least at Darkshore and FoM, so there will be only 4 other potential game days, probably amounting to 1 in the far north (CW/TR) 1-2 in WH/SSD, and 1 in the south with you guys if there is teams from down there. This is a tentaive example. Granted I realize your travel would be larger than say a team from up north, but that coudl change as well, depending on the number and location of the teams in the league. If you all were fielding 3-4 teams down there, and there were 3-4 teams up here, then we would probably need to reconsider where the majority of games would be.

/ramble off

Anyway, you get the idea, just keep me in the loop of your overall interest. I will have specific team requirements up tommorow.

Moderate travel is not an issue. If it's one day a month I can probably make any match that is a Sunday and I can make arrangements for Saturday trips with enough notice. :)

Great idea, Keluric! Crimson Sanctum is in. I'd been hoping to nudge something like this anyway, as a way to foster more inter-chapter contact/events down South.

I'm absolutely interested... but Darkshore is still an issue for me. And will continue to be...

So, if anybody's thinking of putting together a team and could use (at least) an alternate, I'm in.

I have heard rumors to that effect. Insofar as anything is provable, it appears to be true.
