The Principality of Westmarch is pleased to announce Southern Rebellion 2009. This event, formerly know as “Northern Invasion,” will take place in August. For the first time ever, the event will take the form of a multi-day campout, beginning Friday with an evening event and stretching through Sunday with an early morning event. We have reserved a suitable campsite high in the mountains above LA.
Backstory
The Northern and Southern lands of Westmarch are at war. The Southern lands of Crimson Sanctum and Siar Geata, with the aid of their outland allies, have rebelled against the North. The Northern lands of Ashen Spire, Crimson Wood, Seven Sleeping Dragons, Thor’s Refuge, Wavehaven, and Wyvern’s Spur, along with their own outland allies, have come to put down the insurrection. A series of five games will determine the future balance of power in Westmarch for once and all.
Dates
Southern Rebellion will be held from August 7th (site lease starts at 2PM) through August 9th (site lease ends at 11AM). This places the event two weeks after Clan (Ruidoso, New Mexico) and two weeks before Dragon Blade War (Ryndon, Nevada), giving people a weekend to rest and recuperate between each event.

Location
The event will be held at the Lightning Point campsite in the Los Angeles National Forest. This site is centered in a grove of Jeffery Pines amid Scrub Oaks and Manzanita at an elevation of 6,100 feet, and features six subsites (we have two of them, sites #3 and #4) with tables, ring fires/BBQs, and large gathering areas; has gated parking; and a short and easy nature trail. Best of all, it has tons of space and is remote enough to not bother the neighbors. As of today, none of the other sites have been booked. Each site can accommodate up to 40 people and 20 vehicles.
Directions
I was given an address for the campsite, but looking at a map –- and having driven the route from the Southern side –- it is Almost Certainly Wrong. Please follow the directions in the PDF at the bottom of this post instead.
In addition, the Ranger Station passed along the address for the Mill Creek Summit station, which is just across the street from the turnoff into Lightning point (just beforre 3N17): 27502 Angeles Forest Highway, Palmdale, CA. It shoudl serve as a useful check.
Finally, Azus managed to find map coordinates for the actual site itself: Lat 34.3681889, Long 118.185511. Thank you, Azus!
Cost
The anticipated gate fee for the full event is $12.00. Those wishing to come up for just a single day will pay a reduced fee, either $4 for Friday/Sunday (one game and meal each) or $8 for Saturday (two games, three meals, plus Court and Bardic).
Questions should be directed to me, as the event's Autocrat, either by PM or by phone (818) 675-8538.
