Game Description: Assassination
Did I mention the North and South are at War?
Well, one of the ways your friendly event staff will recreate this feeling is by encouraging (not requiring, but encouraging) the formation of separate North and South warcamps, replete with banners and weapons racks and other touches. (Conveniently, we booked two adjacent sites. Event staff will contribute appropriate props, but we also encourage you to bring your own.)
Part of the reason is to set the atmosphere…
…but part of the reason is to set up an ongoing game called “Assassination.”
In this game, the three best-attending lands on each side (counting outlanders on each side as one “land”) will select one of their own as a “dignitary.” The dignitary is an esteemed non-combatant for purposes of this game and this game only, and will play that role until either the end of the event or their untimely demise. The land may also appoint up to four people as either “guards,” who try and protect that dignitary, or “assassins,” who try to kill the dignitaries on the other side. Note that the four people are in total, meaning each land must carefully choose their ideal mix between offense and defense.
A side scores one victory point for each successful kill of an opposing leader. Successful subduing and kidnapping an opposing dignitary, and holding them at your base camp for 10 minutes, earns one extra point (represents "key info" being taken; claimable only once per target land). The kidnappee’s side may, of course, cut their losses by killing their own dignitary before that time expires.
With each dignitary’s death, their land must choose a new person to take his/her place; this person is off limits for the first 30 minutes, in order for him/her to prepare.
Lands on the same side may cooperate to guard and/or attack…but of course each land is responsible for its own reputation in the end, and is that other dignitary really worth risking yours over?
Note this game will be “always on,” adding another layer of excitement to all activities (exceptions: specific hours/items by agreement, and of course Saturday court).
